SEMI Southeast Asia Charity Golf
This event marks the inaugural charity golf in conjunction with SEMICON Southeast Asia 2018. Ingrained in SEMI tradition of being the force for good for the electronics manufacturing supply chain, this event aims to make a small difference in similar vein of being a force for good for the unfortunate children whom suffered untoward circumstance of abused and abandonment.
It is hard to imagine someone intentionally hurting a child. Yet nearly 4500 children are abused between 2015-2016 in Malaysia alone. And these are only the reported incidents of child abuse — many more cases are unreported and undetected, often because children are afraid to tell somebody who can help. The most serious cases of child abuse can end in death.
Those who survive abused and abandonment may suffer emotional scars that can last long after the physical or emotional bruises have healed. Kids who are either abused or abandon are more likely to have problems building and maintaining relationships throughout their lives. They're also more likely to have low self-esteem, depression, thoughts of suicide and other mental health issues.
The healing journey for those who have experienced child abuse and neglect can be extremely painful. It is also possible for survivors to go on and have healthy and productive childhoods and adult lives. This healing journey begins with proper care, unyielding love and more importantly laying the foundation for these children to have a better future through education.
This charity golf hopes to galvanise the industry in support of helping such unfortunate children in their early recovery and more importantly showcase the unity of the industry against such abuse. With your support, SEMI Charity Golf, hopes to raise at least RM100,000 to the Good Samaritan Home located in Klang, Malaysia.
